House Speaker Tim Miley and his leadership team are forming a Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development work group with the intent of it becoming a standing committee focusing on those issues when the regular legislative session begins Jan. 8.
The West Virginia Legislature passed House Bill 2014, the Budget Bill, in just three days of an extended session.
Today the Senate completed Senate Bill 105,which would allow rule making authority relating to administration, collection and enforcement of local sales, use and excise taxes by the Tax Commissioner.
The House convened today to consider and pass three bills and adjourn the 1st Extraordinary Session.

The president should have given Congress time to react before issuing an executive order on immigration and making it immediately effective, a West Virginia senator said on Friday. Federal prosecutors in the northern district of West Virginia collected more than $13 million in criminal and civil fines and penalties in the last fiscal year. U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld says the northern district's collections included nearly $5.4 million in civil actions, $957,000 from criminal actions and $1.5 million from civil and criminal asset forfeitures.

Hundreds of thousands of West Virginia voters cast their ballot in the 2014 Midterm Election to choose federal representatives, half the State Senate, the entire House of Delegates, and to decide on a proposed amendment to the state constitution.
With all 55 counties reporting, 97,323 people voted during the 10-day Early Voting period in addition to 4,828 absentee ballots being returned voted.
