CAMERON, W. Va.– A body found in Cameron Monday night could be that of an inmate who escaped while on work release, according to police. Deputies in Marshall County said the body was found with clothes on that matched the description of clothes worn by Derek Midcap when he was last seen last week.  On June 13, Midcap did not return to the Northern Regional Jail from work release. The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office to be identified.
ANSTED, W. Va– Two teenagers were taken into custody Tuesday in Fayette County after placing a false 911 call. Dispatchers with the Fayette County 911 said they received a call around 2:30 a.m. stating that a pair of individuals were breaking windows and possible stealing items from a Shell station in the Ansted area. Once police arrived on scene, they found that no windows had been broken at the business. As they further investigated other businesses in the area they noticed two males fleeing on foot. Police pursued the pair and after a brief chase through several yards and a wooded area, the suspects...

In addition, the cake structure will be 8 feet long, over 3 feet tall, and decorated with nearly 900 pounds of fondant icing. The creators of the structure underlying the Capitol replica are a father-and-son team of Culture Center employees, David and Darren Husband. CHARLESTON, W. Va.– The West Virginia ACLU says state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is over-reaching and being political with his letters to a pair of abortion clinics asking them to answer a number of questions. “These services are providing women with safe and good care and I’m just concerned that it is politically motivated and not truly about the well-being of West Virginia women and families,” said ACLU Board President Sara Bird. In a prepared release, Morrisey stated that a recent lawsuit filed by the Family Policy Council of West Virginia against the Women’s Health Center in Charleston and a doctor there...
CHARLESTON, W. Va.– The West Virginia Department of Transportation (DOT) is starting a more aggressive campaign to stress work zone safety across West Virginia. Officials with the DOT along with the West Virginia State Police met with media Tuesday in Charleston to get the message out to motorists. “We just can’t stress enough how avoidable these accidents are in work zones if people just pay attention,” said DOT Director of Communications Brent Walker. “Turn off the cell phone and just drive.” The extra work zone safety push comes just weeks before the act of using a hand held cell phone while driving becomes a primary offense...
