Re-elect McKinley 10-18-2014 02:45
Voters in our area of West Virginia, the First Congressional District, have had reason to be grateful for our good judgment in sending David McKinley to the House of Representatives. Since early 2011, McKinley has served our region courageously and capably.
How to create jobs 10-17-2014 23:01
Rep. David McKinley, R-W.Va., lists as his top priority ensuring that West Virginia's economy is healthy.
A top coal producer, a casino company, the Arizona Diamondbacks owner and plenty of unions are chipping in six-figure checks to influence West Virginia's statehouse elections. The Democrats' 85-year reign in the House of Delegates is at stake, and groups supporting both parties are loading up on donations and spending money on political advertising.
Two highly misleading ads from Republican Evan Jenkins leave the false impression that Rep. Nick Rahall is responsible for higher electric rates and personally profited from his votes in Congress: Both ads imply that West Virginia's electricity rates skyrocketed after Rahall voted for a budget resolution that called for a carbon tax. But the budget plan failed; no tax was ever implemented; and the 23.2 percent rate increase mentioned in one ad has nothing to do with a carbon tax.
Democrats' Senate candidate in West Virginia, Natalie Tennant, would not mention President Obama by name when asked whom she voted for in the previous election. Two other Democratic Senate candidates, Alison Lundergan Grimes of Kentucky and Michelle Nunn of Georgia, have recently refused to answer questions about whom they supported when President Obama, unpopular in all their states, was on the ballot.
Safe at Home 10-16-2014 23:42
West Virginia's most at-risk kids are getting a little extra support from a federal waiver that will allow the state to implement a Safe at Home program designed to enhance the state's child welfare system. The idea is to reduce the number of children receiving services in out-of-home care facilities by finding ways for them to get some services in their homes - where, in theory, they will feel more safe and comfortable.
