House Speaker Tim Miley and his leadership team are forming a Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development work group with the intent of it becoming a standing committee focusing on those issues when the regular legislative session begins Jan. 8.
The West Virginia Legislature passed House Bill 2014, the Budget Bill, in just three days of an extended session.
Today the Senate completed Senate Bill 105,which would allow rule making authority relating to administration, collection and enforcement of local sales, use and excise taxes by the Tax Commissioner.
The House convened today to consider and pass three bills and adjourn the 1st Extraordinary Session.
The Legislature convened this evening for the 2013 First Extraordinary Session to complete legislation on two bills.

It is no surprise that, as The Associated Press reported, "West Virginia's top legislative leaders aren't sure clamoring over coal this election season does much good for Appalachia's already-spluttering industry."
The Evironmental Protection Agency has moved its deadline for public comment on the Clean Power Plant Proposed Rule from October 16, to December 1, 2014, giving citizens an additional 45 days to weigh in.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin says he will dip into West Virginia's Rainy Day Fund to close a projected gap in state funding that amounts to more than $100 million. Tomblin will present the 2016 budget in January, but officials already are looking at ways to close the gap caused by declines in revenue and federal reimbursements.
