West Virginia Legislature

House Speaker Tim Miley and his leadership team are forming a Small Business, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development work group with the intent of it becoming a standing committee focusing on those issues when the regular legislative session begins Jan. 8.
The West Virginia Legislature passed House Bill 2014, the Budget Bill, in just three days of an extended session.
Today the Senate completed Senate Bill 105,which would allow rule making authority relating to administration, collection and enforcement of local sales, use and excise taxes by the Tax Commissioner.
The House convened today to consider and pass three bills and adjourn the 1st Extraordinary Session.
The Legislature convened this evening for the 2013 First Extraordinary Session to complete legislation on two bills.

Voters in West Virginia's First Congressional District have had reason to be grateful for good judgment in sending David McKinley to the House of Representatives. Since early 2011, McKinley has served the region courageously and capably.
The Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park is being featured as a stamp from the U.S. Postal Service. The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources says the Postal Service recently issued the stamp featuring the Fayette County attraction.
The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources says collisions between cars and deer increase significantly during the months of October and November. Officials suggest motorists drive defensively, be aware of their surroundings, drive with headlights on and use high beams when possible.
Senate President have endorsed passage of the amendment to allow the Boy Scouts of America to let other organizations use the Summit Bechtel Reserve in , said, "The facility sits empty except in the summer. This amendment would allow us to take advantage of the Scouts' investment in our state to generate and attract economic activity."
